The international tenor Rolando Villazón, also brilliant at penning a likeness, uncaps his felt-tip and with a few expert strokes brings alive a naïve young peasant called Nemorino who is madly in love with a flighty, beautiful young landowner named Adina. The opera is Donizetti's great romantic comedy L'elisir d'amore (The elixir of love) that premiered on 12 May 1832. Villazon's sparky animation and charming narration, made exclusively for Sinfini Music, tell the story of Nemorino's obsession with Adina. Alas she has eyes only for the dashing Sergeant Belcore. Until, that is, the quack Dr Dulcamara sells Nemorino a 'magical' elixir that could change the course of true love forever.
